Over her social media activity she has also been implicated in racist, homophobic, anti-Catholic, and misogynistic abuse. She has gained for herself a reputation for aggressive social media trolling.

Robert Davies

Forth and Endrick Councillor now facing a police investigation over racist tweet depicting colonial-era black people as savages and cannibals. The immediate response of the Tory Party was to condemn the tweets, where the obvious first response would have been to dismiss him from the party. By not expelling elected councillors for this behaviour the Tories are giving tacit support to racism.

Ruth Davidson

The leader of the Scottish Conservative Party joined in the media smokescreen attack on the British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn by stating on Twitter that “simply seeking peace [with the IRA] is offensive.” This would imply that volunteers in Ireland did not have just cause to defend their country from a violent and oppressive British military occupation that has been found to have violated human rights. It would also imply that she is against the Good Friday Agreement and in favour of further conflict.

Peterhead Conservative Party activist and campaigner reported to the police for making obscene anti-Catholic comments on his Twitter account and making violent threats to the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. He makes it clear that he is a member of the Orange Order and still Ruth Davidson is happy to pose with him for pictures. Many of his Tweets are also racist in nature.

Conservative councillor on Stirling Council used an anonymous Twitter account ‘@Mulder1981’ (now deleted) to make anti-Catholic sectarian and homophobic attacks on independence supporters. He also asked female users about their penis preferences, boasting about the size of his own member. He likened independence supporters to the Nazis, dismissed homeless, and attacked benefits claimants.

Conservative MP for Wells in Somerset, now re-selected and contesting in the general election. Told a Scottish child in her English school to “fuck off back to Scotland” because she said she would vote for Scottish independence. He insists that it was “only a joke.” A clear abuse of power by someone in authority and a disturbing display of politically motivated violence against a minor.
